Fourth Generation

The fourth generation of Worms games introduces new concepts such as Dynamic Water and classes. The generation first started in 2012 with the release of Worms Revolution. The latest fourth generation game was Worms 4, released in 2015.

Worms Revolution

Worms Revolution heralded the start of the fourth generation of Worms games, introducing a new class system with four types of worms, Soldier, Heavy, Scout, and Scientist. Water, previously only used as an instant death barrier at the bottom of the level, can now be found in the level itself with advanced physics and can now be produced by certain weapons, though this water is not as powerful as the ocean surrounding the terrain.

Worms 3

A release for mobile platforms, Worms 3 lacks the water physics seen in Worms Revolution, but carries over the class system and has a new card system that impacts gameplay.

Worms Clan Wars

Worms Clan Wars is a sequel to Worms Revolution that rebalances the class system to increase the differences with each Worm class and decrease the power of the Scientist. It also introduced a new clan system that allows users to create custom clans that others can join.

Worms Battlegrounds

Worms Battlegrounds is a console port of Worms Clan Wars with a nearly identical feature set.
